At 19:30 local time on April 21st, at the Paris Grand Rex Club, the beautiful Georgian dance kicked off the opening ceremony of the 7th Golden Tree International Documentary Festival. This event lasts for 3 days and has the theme of "Roots of Culture - Facing Nature".
The 7th Golden Tree Festival received a total of 4199 films from 139 countries and regions. After initial and preliminary evaluations, 46 films from 27 countries were shortlisted.
Wang Libin, Chairman of the Golden Tree International Documentary Film Festival, delivered a video speech at the opening ceremony, stated that the purpose and goal of the Golden Tree Festival is to enable documentary filmmakers from all over the world to record and showcase the cultural roots of different countries and ethnic groups through the lens, to enhance understanding and respect, and to provide a platform for documentary filmmakers to exchange and cooperate.
Vincent Lowy, the chairman of the judging committee for 7th Golden Tree Festival, praised the festival as a bridge connecting Eastern and Western cultures and a platform for showcasing different cultures in his speech.
Jean Emmanuel PAPAGNO, a pre-jury and French production manager, stated that this year's nominated documentary will take viewers on a "journey around the world" and stand with those who strive for a better world.
Wang Xiaohan, Director of the Organizing Committee of the Golden Tree International Documentary Festival, introduced the arrangements for this year's Golden Tree Festival and the Golden Fruit Plan.
The film screened at the opening ceremony is the nominated film for this year, from Italian director Marco Spinelli's "Mission Euridice". The film tells the story of removing a large amount of abandoned fishing nets from Chefalu Bay.
After the opening ceremony, more than 100 guests participated in the banquet exchange.
